ABSTRACT

The main problem on this research is student critical thinking skills on
online learning at Ariya Metta Vocational High School Tangerang. The purpose
of this study is to describe student critical thinking skills on online learning at
Ariya Metta Vocational High School Tangerang.
This study use qualitative approach with descriptive case study. The subject
of this study is the Buddhist Religious Education Teacher and XI and XII grade
student of Ariya Metta Vocationa High School Tangerang. The object of this study
are online learning activities, the student critical thinking skills figure, the student
effort to show the student critical thinking skills, and the teacher effort to develop
the student critical thinking skills toward online learning to study Buddhist
Religious Education subject at Ariya Metta Vocational High School Tangerang.
Data collection technique used are observation, interview and documentation.
Data validity testing includes credibility, transferability, dependability and
confirmability test. Data analysis consist of condensing data, presenting data, and
conclude of verification.
Online learning activities of Buddhist Religious Study at Ariya Metta
Vocational High School utilize digital communication tools in form of whatsapp
group, google meet, and google classroom. Student are more actively engage in
the learning process of both deepening and understanding on their own and
asking questions. The form of critical thinking ability demonstrated by student
toward online learning are analyzing the material, being capable to resolve the
learning problems that they handle, asking for the truth of an information,
comparing acquired source of information, and doing the learning evaluation.
Students effort to understand Buddhist Religious Education critically by exploring
the material individually and having a discussion were then made summaries to
get to the conclusion. Teacher effort to develop critical thinking capability in
students is to facilitate the learning process and initiates student to study
independently. Student are trained to construct earlier insight for further discuss
on discussion forum in order to get answer the student desire and be capable to
conceit correct conclusion.
