ABSTRACT

Resilience is the ability to adapt and remain steadfast in difficult situations.
The problem raised in this study is that there are still many teenagers who do not
understand the dominant temperament (carita) and lack of social awareness. The
purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperament (carita) and
social care on adolescent resilience at the Vihara Padumuttara Tangerang.


This study uses a quantitative approach to the ex post facto method. The
sampling technique used by the researcher is simple random sampling technique.
The number of respondents used as many as 122 teenagers. The data collection
technique used is non-test using a questionnaire or questionnaire. Content
validation was carried out to three experts with the result that it could be used
with slight improvement. Empirical validation was performed on 60 adolescents
of the trial subjects. The reliability of the instrument variable temperament
(carita) is 0.858; social care of 0.848; and resilience of 0.867 with good or
accepted criteria. Data analysis using descriptive statistical methods and two-way
ANOVA hypothesis testing (two way ANOVA).


The results showed that: (1) there was an influence of temperament (carita)
and social care on adolescent resilience at Vihara Padumuttara Tangerang with
an F value of 4.634 and a significance level of 0.004; (2) there is an influence of
temperament (carita) on adolescent resilience at the Vihara Padumuttara
Tangerang with an F value of 4.633 and a significance level of 0.033; (3) there is
an effect of social care on adolescent resilience at Vihara Padumuttara
Tangerang with an F value of 6.988 and a significance level of 0.009; (4) there is
no interaction effect between temperament (carita) and social awareness on
adolescent resilience at Vihara Padumuttara Tangerang with an F value of 2.282
and a significance level of 0.134; (5) there is a difference in resilience between
adolescents who have a good temperament (carita) and bad temperament (carita)
at the Vihara Padumuttara Tangerang, the average difference is 3.667 and the
significance level is 0.004; (6) there is no difference in resilience between
adolescents who have high social awareness and low social care at Vihara
Padumuttara Tangerang with a mean difference of -0.567 and a significance level
of 0.425; (7) there is no difference in resilience between adolescents who have

high social awareness and low social care in the group of adolescents with good
temperament (carita) at Vihara Padumuttara Tangerang with a mean difference
of 0.657 and a significance level of 0.625; (8) there is a difference in resilience
between adolescents who have high social awareness and low social care in the
group of adolescents with bad temperament (carita) at Vihara Padumuttara
Tangerang with a mean difference of 4.233 and a significance level of 0.001; (9)
there is no difference in resilience between adolescents who have a good
temperament and a bad temperament in the group of adolescents with high social
awareness at the Vihara Padumuttara Tangerang with a mean difference of –
0.567 and a significance level of 0.651; and (10) there is no difference in
resilience between adolescents who have good temperament and bad
temperament in the group of adolescents with low social awareness at Vihara
Padumuttara Tangerang with a mean difference of 0.433 and a significance level
of 0.729.
